FAQ | Will and a Way

Frequently Asked Questions

This page answers some of the most important questions you may have about how Will and a Way works. It will be an important part of providing a plan for your family in the event of your passing.

Do I really need a will or a trust?

Yes, you do, and depending on your personal situation, you may actually need both. Do your research and sign up for a free consultation with an attorney or look at your online options to see what will best work for you. You will also need a health care directive and durable power of attorney directive. Depending on where you live and your situation, you may well need other documents.

Why do I need willandaway.com then?

Wills and trusts are vital but can be vague and certainly don’t cover all the practical details of your messy life. At willandaway.com, you’ll answer detailed questions and create a record customized to your personal situation. If assets will be divided among your children, detail what they are and where to find them. For specific bequests, explain how those items are held. In case of your disability, leave practical information about your doctors, medications, and household matters. These are just a few of the categories. The simple answer is that with willandaway.com, you have peace of mind. You know that your vital information is safely stored until it is needed in case of disability or disaster. And in the event of your passing, your family has instant access to your funeral, burial, and service wishes.

How does the plan work?

This is a subscription-based plan. You can go in at any time to update your information. You will be reminded with your subscription renewal to take a look and note the changes in your life and circumstances. Have you bought or sold any property? Gotten married or divorced? Had a change of heart about what should happen to your cherished belongings or family heirlooms? And what about your doctors, meds and dosages? These are just a few of the categories you will find at willandaway.com.

You will select a password known only to you and your one personal representative who will be able to access your account, if and when needed. You will not list your last name, address, or any passwords within willandaway.com so no one else can access your information, either. (Passwords should be saved safely in a password manager and in hard copy along with your actual legal documents.)

Is this a legally binding document?

The simple answer is no, it is not legally binding. We refer you back to the source of your legal documents to make the big changes, such as beneficiaries and legal titles. If your will and trust contradict your willandaway.com account, your will and trust will be legally binding.

We like to think of willandaway.com as a morally binding way to keep peace in families after death or disability. And it is your opportunity to give clear and concise directions to your family and/or caregivers if and when needed. We know what you need and haven’t thought of.

How secure will my information be?

Your information will be as secure as we can make it. That is our promise to you! We made sure the questions asked cannot be traced back to you. Only your first name is collected as well as your email address. We DO NOT store your phone number, home address, billing address, passwords, or any vital information that can point back to you. We also state that under no circumstances will we ever contact you for personal information over the phone or email and that you should never give this information out or password out to anyone you do not trust or know personally. The payment process is done through a secure 3rd party payment gateway and our site is SSL secure! Click the “Safe & Secure” tab in the Navigation at the top of the page for more information.

And if I cancel or choose not to renew my subscription?

We are confident that you will be pleased with the service and will choose to renew when the time comes. However, should you choose to cancel you can, of course. Do so at any time and we will simply remove and delete the information that you have stored with us.
